My research focuses on blueberries, utilizing cutting-edge biotechnology such as genome editing and genomic analysis to understand and improve the molecular basis of key fruit traits. Specifically, I target the anthocyanins, sugars, and organic acids to enhance both human health benefits and flavor profiles. Additionally, I explore wild blueberry relatives that exhibit extraordinary drought tolerance. By elucidating the physiological and genetic mechanisms, I aim to apply these traits directly to practical breeding programs. Ultimately, my goal is to develop new, high-value blueberry cultivars that seamlessly combine superior fruit quality with enhanced environmental stress tolerance.
