Water Resources Management

We attempt to solve problems related to water quantity and quality from a plot to watershed scale. Our research focuses on the harmony between the environment and human activities, such as the optimal allocation of water quantity (stabilization of food production) in response to global warming and population growth, and the solution of water environment problems caused by human activities.

A field research of river water environment

For effective use of water resources, it is essential to propose appropriate management methods for a watershed. For example, agricultural land is an important place for producing crops, but not well-considered farming activities may have negative economic and environmental impacts. In addition, in regions where water resources are scarce, effective use of limited water resources is important for stabilizing food production. We are currently developing technologies for sustainable watershed management using hydrological and water quality surveys, interviews on farming methods, and model simulation approaches.
