Development of an inexpensive and easy seedling production method in a high temperature environment

In raising seedlings at high temperature in summer, growth failure, early bolting and delay flowering are problems. We are developing a seedling production method for high-temperature period such as Eustoma and Delphinium by using intermittent low temperature treatment that combines photosynthesis by natural condition and promotion of flower bud differentiation and growth by low temperature.

Study for the reinforcement mechanisms from hydrangea cut flower

Hydrangea cut flowers often survive for several months in a vase. We can learn many physiological phenomena accounting for the reinforcement of plant floral organs. We are studying the phenomena aiming for the development of techniques that achieve extension of vase life of cut flowers or reinforcement of plant organs.

Development of labor-saving production technology for horticultural crops

Horticultural crops such as strawberries and asparagus require a large amount of time for harvesting, sorting, and packing. To achieve simultaneous harvesting and mechanical/robotic harvesting, we are developing techniques to unify growth not only between individuals but also within individuals (between lateral shoots and between fruits) through breeding and cultivation controls.
