The aim of research is to realize micro actuator systems that use microscopic deformation of solids such as piezoelectric materials. The research activities include micro actuators that can be used in ultralow temperature and high intensity magnetic field environments, devices to manipulate objects in microchannels, and sensors with soft structures.

Welding technology of polyimide films together without pre-treatment, additives, or adhesives has been realized. Using this technology, we are researching actuators for extreme environments. In addition, we are researching “Filmotics (Film + Robotics),” a film robot technology that aims to realize robots that take advantage of the characteristics of ultra-thin and ultra-lightweight film.
