Wood is significantly different from other agricultural and marine products in that, with proper management, it can store carbon over the long term. Maximizing this capability could potentially help mitigate global warming. Our laboratory is working toward further mitigating global warming by recycling wood. Additionally, we are conducting research on the effective use of wood resources by combining recycled wood with adhesive technologies.

Development of high-rigidity, high-bearing wood joints that have never been thought so far
Abstract: It is said that the key to design wood structure lies in joints because joints are often drawbacks because joint tools are easily embedded into wood or wood splits at the periphery of joint tools. In addition, connections (joint of wood with different fiber direction) are more difficult than splices (joint of wood with same fiber direction) even if an adhesive is used. Therefore, I aim to develop wood joints with high rigidity and high yield strength by devising the processing of connections.
Development of labor-saving and energy-saving wood module construction method that is easy to tear down, reuse and recycle
Abstract: Even in the corona calamity, the construction industry is undermanned. Therefore, prefabricated construction is attracting attention, and I am developing a module (unit) construction method using CLT, large panels for the conventional construction. In such a unit construction method, the construction can be torn down so as to rotate the video film at the construction in the reverse direction, and if the torn down units are transported to the factory, they can be easily separated and disassembled. In addition, since it is mainly processed in factories, it is excellent in labor saving and energy saving, and can greatly contribute to decarbonization.
