We develop mathematical theories (topology, dynamical systems, etc.), methods, and software for data analysis and utilization and apply them to various fields such as materials science, geology, meteorology, and life science.

I work on topological data analysis, especially persistent homology. We develop from mathematical theory, data analysis methods, and software to applications to materials science and other fields about persistent homology.

We are working on constructing data-driven weather models that can make predictions exceeding the predictive performance of existing weather models, and on clarifying what can be learnt by machine learning.
